AUTO E MOTO D’EPOCA 2023 – THE 40TH EDITION AT BOLOGNA

In an exhibition area twice as large as the previous year, the Auto e Moto d’Epoca is moving to the new site in Bologna. 

Apart from European exhibitors, historic manufacturers and clubs, the Heritage collections and the latest models, the first “Exhibition within the Exhibition” is entirely dedicated to historical motorcycles.

AUTO E MOTO D’EPOCA 2023 MOVES TO BOLOGNAFIERE

The 40th edition of Auto e Moto d’Epoca opens a new chapter in its history: it is the first to be held not in Padua anymore but at the Bologna Exhibition Centre. Both the facilities and the connections offered by the Bologna Exhibition Centre allow a convenient link between European enthusiasts and exhibitors and the Italian market. As every year, Auto e Moto d’Epoca attracts visitors from 45 countries all over the world, making it an internationally appreciated event and the most important classic car fair in Europe.

EXHIBITION SPACE DOUBLED

The 2023 edition of Auto e Moto d’Epoca marks a turning point in the fair’s history, allowing the Italian classic car world to showcase its full potential. Set against the new backdrop of BolognaFiere, Auto e Moto d’Epoca 2023 will double the available exhibition areas to a total of 235,000 square metres, spread over 11 halls. Hall 21 will exclusively present vintage motorbikes as a “fair within the fair”.

THE MOTORCYCLE EXHIBITION OF AUTO E MOTO D’EPOCA

The new pavilion dedicated to historical motorbikes covers 15,000 square metres of exhibition space. The aim of the motorbike fair is to show motorbike lovers a hitherto unseen wealth of culture. Highlights include the world premiere of the Honda racing motorbike from the multi-award-winning Lucio Cecchinello Racing Team, as well as the historic Honda 750 K0.

Another focus is on the history of BMW Motorrad on the occasion of the brand’s 100th anniversary. Also on display will be pieces from the important Battilani Collection from Imola, which is one of the most renowned collections in Italy and includes specimens from the early days up to the 1940s.

THE BOOM OF EUROPEAN EXHIBITORS

Bookings from exhibitors and dealers, especially from Europe, have exceeded all expectations and led to the extension of the already scheduled halls by two additional ones. The classic car clubs and registers are also strongly represented; the International Touring Superleggera Register exhibits one of the first road Ferraris in the world: the Berlinetta 195 LM Coupé Superleggera, the model with which Conte Giannino Marzotto won the 1000 Miglia race in 1950. The San Martino racing team and the San Martino Automobile Museum in Rio will jointly present two vehicles that are over a century old.

Among the car manufacturers, many important brands will be represented: Alpine, BMW Motorrad, Bentley, Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, FCA Heritage Gruppo Stellantis, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz Italia, Toyota Motor Italia and Volvo Cars Italia.

COLLECTIBLES AT THE AUTO E MOTO D’EPOCA 2023

The celebrations will also be taking place for the 90th anniversary of the Mauto Collection, the National Automobile Museum, and the presence of other important European museum institutions that will announce their participation after the summer.

The historical clubs and registers will also have a marked presence, each with cars and bikes which have made motor history a heritage to be preserved and guarded. The Touring Superleggera International Registry, for example, will exhibit one of the first Ferrari road vehicles in the world: the Berlinetta 195 LM Coupé Superleggera, a car identical to the one in which the Count Giannino Marzotto won the 1000 Miglia in 1950. Also in the Registro’s booth, a 1942 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 S Cabriolet Turinga, one of the coachbuilders’ rare cars produced under the Italianised name out of respect for the autarchic imposition of the twenty-year Fascist period. There are also many new entries linked to the history and passion of the Motor Valley, such as the Scuderia San Martino and the Automobile Museum of San Martino in Rio that will present together a double stand, with two cars over 100 years old and a surprise linked to the famous 24 hours of Le Mans (which turns 100 this year).
